Beijing Supermarkets for Imported Foods

If you need to stay for a while in Beijing, then the knowledge about Beijing Supermarkets is very necessary for you. I will introduce you the locations of some big-name supermarket chains and where to buy imported food.

There are many big-name supermarkets in Beijing and you will have lots of choices. You can find food, commodities, clothes, books, electrical staff and even household appliances there. You can use money or your credit card. Only some of the salespeople can speak only a little English but most signs are bi-lingual. Towards the bottom of the page you’ll find some boutique (but large) supermarkets that have English speaking staff and cater especially to expats and foreign customers.

Most supermarkets in China open around 8.00am and close around 9pm.

Following are some big-name supermarkets in Beijing which stock western lines:

Wal-mart Supercenter 沃尔玛购物广场（wò ér mǎ）

Carrefour 家乐福（jiā lè fú）

Some of the branches offer Free Carrefour Shuttle Bus to convenient the customers. Carrefour offers good value on a lot of imported lines, mostly European imports. Each supermarket will have a dedicated imports section, also see the refrigerated isle for imported cheeses.

Lot’s of Japanese lines, some Koran and Western. One of my favorite supermarkets in China simply due to the high standards.

Tips: You can find many imported food in Metro, and lots of bulk buy goods. If you are doing some baking then this is the place to check out. This is where many cafes and restaurants buy their stock.
